Experience
Advising on a wide range of legal work including administering
complex and high value UK and international estates of deceased
company directors, partners in professional partnerships, Lloyds’
underwriters, writers, artists, entrepreneurs and sole traders
generally as well as traditional farmers,
landowners and other private individuals.
Advising on numerous complex litigious matters, frequently with an
international dimension, and on disputes involving conflicts of
laws; advising a bank on a range of contentious or potentially
contentious issues involving its customers; instructed as an expert
witness in a probate dispute.
Advising on all related taxation and tax planning issues;
preparation of City of Westminster & Holborn Law Society’s
response to HM Revenue & Customs’ 2005 Consultation Paper on
Pensions and Inheritance Tax (subsequently adopted by the Law
Society as its response to the Paper).
Advising on all aspects of art and heritage property, including
Chairmanship of Farrer & Co’s Art and Cultural Property Group.
Hunters’ Compliance Partner, Compliance Officer for Legal Practice
and Money Laundering Reporting Officer with responsibility for
training all partners and staff in anti-money-laundering and
anti-fraud law and practice and in adherence to ethical and
financial rules; advising corporate clients on regulatory and
anti-money-laundering issues.
A Training Partner at Farrer & Co, Dawsons and Hunters
responsible with the Training Committees of those firms for the
formulation and implementation of a firm-wide training programme for
partners and staff; delivering internal and external lectures,
chairmanship of internal seminars and preparation of articles on
legal matters for the national and specialised legal press.
Currently Legal Director of three international oil and gas mining companies.
